The use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for prevention of COVID-19 has been in the news lately. Could these drugs still work? Dr Will Schilling will explain an international study that aims to give us the answer.

How close are we to a vaccine for COVID-19?

Dr Puey Ounjai (Faculty of Science, Mahidol University)

Dr Puey will talk about the virus structure and how it relates to the development of vaccines for COVID-19. He will also outline the research initiatives around COVID in Thailand.


What are the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 and lock-downs?​

Dr Wirichada Pan-ngum (Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit)

In the absence of a vaccine and widely available treatments for COVID-19, governments primarily rely on non-pharmaceutical interventions such as lock-downs to curb the pandemic. Dr Pan will we report results of an anonymous online survey conducted in May 2020 to assess perceptions of Thai residents on public health measures to curb the pandemic.
