Associate Professor Direk Limmathurotsakul (MD, MSc, PhD) is the Head of Microbiology at the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit. Direk is a researcher and international expert on antimicrobial resistance. He and his team have extensive experience in engaging Thai and global communities with issues around AMR. He will talk about his flagship projects that include the Antibiotic Footprint (www.antibioticfootprint.net) and AMR Dictionary (www.amrdictionary.net), which is available online and in print and translated into multiple languages.

Assistant Professor Niyada Kiatying-Angsulee (BPharm, MSc, PhD) is a member of the Expert Medicines Committee by Law at National Level, the National AMR Committee and is actively involved in the Thailand National Strategic Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance Thailand. She is also the Manager of Drug System Monitoring and Development Center at Chulalongkorn University. She was Director of Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute. Apart from Antimicrobial Resistance issues, Niyada is also working on medicine system and polices monitoring and advocating on access and rational use.  She will talk about Thailand’s efforts in curbing antibiotic resistance through activities in the Thailand Antibiotic Awareness Week.
